At the Stroke of Midnight!

This was a cake for 5 year old Anika.

Anika had three requests- a pink cake, Cinderella and a “glass” slipper!

This was a 61/2″, three layered chocolate cake with pink vanilla flavoured buttercream frosting.

I decided to cover the sides with ruffles, and used a petal nozzle to make them.

Cinderella started out with a cone made of Rice Krispie Treats. I covered the base with layers of fondant to create the effect of a flared dress and the white petticoat below.
Working on all the details was so much fun! Especially the little glass slippers…

And the note that made my day!
“Hi Radhika, thank you so much for making the beautiful cake. Anika loved the cake and she kept saying how beautiful Cinderella was. She has since eaten her hands and decapitated her.
The cake was so delicious and moist and the quantity was just right as well. Will send you a picture soon. Thanks again.”

What a fabulous fairy tale cake with a happy ending. Cinderella wins her Prince and Anika has a birthday cake she will remember fondly for years to come. Quite amazing.

Happy ending for me as well! It’s so nice when the child loves the cake, and when the mom writes back saying so.
Thank you Angela, for your lovely comment!

I have heard of the famous ‘Tryst With Destiny’ speech by Pandit Nehru at the stroke of the midnight hour when India became independent. I am sure Little Anika must have had a wonderful Tryst with the delicious Cinderella cake you had baked for her.The cake looks fabulous, indeed.
